Partner of De Camps, Vásquez & Valera since 2016, and Director of the Litigation Department. Her professional practice focuses in assisting clients on litigation in a wade range of subjects, including civil law, commercial, labor, real estate, constitutional law, administrative law, telecommunications law and energy law.

Professional Career and Work Experience

Diana De Camps Contreras began her professional career as a lawyer in a prestigious Dominican law firm, where she worked from 2005 to 2010. After joining De Camps, Vásquez & Valera she has held several positions in the firm and is currently Partner and the Director of the Litigation Department.

Ms. De Camps Contreras works with real estate developers, investors in tourism, finance, and international commerce, nonprofit organizations, State entities and goods and services suppliers, in transactions and complex litigations that entail proceedings at courts of different jurisdictions.

In administrative law and regulatory matters, she has represented high profile clients in the areas of energy and telecommunication from the installation of their projects to the beginning of formal operations. Ms. De Camps Contreras represented one of the main telecommunication companies in the country in claims made by clients before the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL), and assisted companies in the telecommunication sector on the drafting of observations to regulation issued by INDOTEL. She advised the Airport Special Security (CESAC) in drafting of regulation of airport security and civil aviation.

She has broad experience in public procurement and public procurement litigation. Also, her areas of expertise encompass investigation and drafting of due diligence reports for mergers and acquisitions of companies within regulated and non-regulated markets.

In 2014. Diana De Camps Contreras was sworn as legal interpreter for the English language, designated by Resolution 13-2014 of the Judicial Council of the Dominican Republic.

Education and Awards

Diana De Camps Contreras studied Law at Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), graduating with honors -magna cum laude- (2003). She obtained her Master’s degree in Telecommunication Law and Information Technology at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (2004); Master’s in Economic Regulation at Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra (2008), and Master’s in Constitutional Law and Public Law at Universidad Castilla La Mancha (2012).

In 2002, she represented her alma mater, Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), in the International Moot Court Arbitration Competition Willem C. Vis, in Vienna, Austria. In 2004, while she was completing her Master’s degree of Telecommunication Law and Information Technology at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid she was an intern at the Secretary of State of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Tourism and Commerce of Spain, where she cohabitated on the drafting of reports and proposals regarding the application of EU Directives in audiovisual matters, and compliance control of the obligations of telecommunication companies specialized in TV and radio.
