Amauris Vasquez Disla is a founding partner of the Law Firm De Camps, Vasquez & Valera and serves as the firm’s co-chair of the Business Law Practice group. His law practice has been focused on representing clients operating or directing investments in regulated sectors of the Dominican economy, such as mining, energy, renewable energy, oil & gas, finance, banking, aviation, and telecommunications.

Amauris Vasquez Disla is experienced in structuring and implementation of foreign investments in the country, project financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, as well as in joint ventures and agreements between public/private companies. He has also participated in important transactions in the energy, hydrocarbons and mining industries, and has consulted and worked with real estate developers on tourism and infrastructure projects in the country.

Professional Career and Work Experience

Mr. Vasquez Disla began his career at one of the most prestigious law firms in the country where he diligently worked in the Department of International Practice and assisted clients in the execution of foreign investments in various sectors of the economy.

He then worked in Barcelona, Spain, as an in-house legal counsel at Banco Sabadell (2001-2002), where he gained experience working in the European financial sector, with an emphasis on structuring, implementation and execution of international financial transactions, including private financing, securitization and project financing.

In 2002, he returned to the Dominican Republic and assumed the position of Legal Director of Empresa Generadora de Electricidad Haina, S. A., where he worked in operations development and project finance, and regulatory issues within the energy sector.

He is a founding partner and co-leader of the Business Practice and Corporate Law group in De Camps, Vasquez and Valera, where he provides legal advice to clients in the structuring and placement of foreign direct investments in the energy, telecommunications, infrastructure and oil and gas industry, among other sectors of the economy, and advises several public service companies in projects related to the generation of renewable energy (wind, solar and biomass) in the Dominican Republic in matters of structuring, permits and negotiations of EPC and PPA contracts, financing and implementation.

Education and Recognitions

Amauris Vasquez Disla studied Law at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic (PUCMM) (1999) and obtained a Masters of Law (LL.M) in Business Law at the University of Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Spain (2002). He also completed the Summer Program for the Application of International Law at the University of Helsinki, Finland (2002); and has participated in the Conference on Basic Concepts and Strategies of International Commercial Arbitration organized by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Panama, and in the III World-Conference of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris.

Memberships and Teaching Positions

Member of the Dominican Bar Association (Colegio de Abogados de la República Dominicana). Arbitrator for the Center for Alternative Resolution of Controversies, Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santo Domingo. Member of the Board of Directors of the British Chamber of Commerce (BRITCHAM). Member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago in the Dominican Republic.

He has been professor of private law at the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), and of the course of Energy and Permits of the Master’s Program in Renewable Energy at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM).

In 2018 Amauris Vasquez Disla was a panelist at the Latin American Investment Energy Forum held in London.
